Establishing the authenticity of traditions on Imamate, particularly within the context of theological debates among Islamic schools, has always been one of the most important subjects in hadith studies. In his works, especially his enduring masterpiece Abaqat al-Anwar, Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn systematically and through multiple layers defended the reliability of these traditions on the basis of Sunni principles and rules, employing a variety of methods. The main issue of this study is to identify and precisely analyze his methodological patterns in establishing the authenticity of traditions on Imamate. Adopting a descriptive-analytical approach and based on an examination of his theological sources, this study extracts, categorizes, and analyzes his methods. The findings demonstrate that Allamah Mir Hamid Husayn established hadith authenticity through five major dimensions: foundational authenticity (rijal and isnad analysis according to the rules of hadith sciences), acknowledgment-based authenticity (relying on scholars’ acknowledgment of a tradition’s authenticity, including explicit declarations of authenticity, narration of the tradition in works devoted to authentic traditions, and transmission in mursal form), argumentative authenticity (reliance on the tradition in argumentation), descriptive authenticity (employing the tradition in a descriptive context), and analogous authenticity (transferring a judgment of authenticity from a similar chain of transmission). Analysis of these methods demonstrates that, by combining transmitted and methodological arguments, he presented a comprehensive framework of the foundations of hadith authenticity that can serve as a model for similar studies in establishing the authenticity of traditions.
